Before LomoWall...

These days, we are busy preparing lomowall for the coming Lomo X-hibition. Thousand and thousand of lomographs to be sticked on the wall, reminded me of one quite similar wall with full of b/w photograph that featured in my short film - Live Life. If you ever watched the movie before, you probably know what I mean; If you don't, just keep scrolling down... :P

I remember there was a wall-making's sequence that we shot that time. So after got home, immediately I searched for it, thew in a music, and here is it to share with everyone!

video
The Making of the Wall.

Eventually I decided to cut in only one shot of the wall at the ending part of 'Live Life'.
One and only special shot!

The ending sequence of Live Life.

And here's the still. Used to be my favorite destop wallpaper! :)

If you like to see a different, bigger, and hell sparkling colorful wall full of thousand more photographs than this. Don't miss our Lomo X-hibition 2007 from 26th Nov - 1st Dec at Desein Academy, Wangsa Maju! One huge wall + 16 personal panel walls (including mine) are waiting for you, see you there!

Coconut House Cafe

A gathering with my ex-colleagues at the Coconut House Cafe located near the Pudu Bas Station. It is such a nice environment, and it's also a place that really give supports to local film makers- Chui Mui's 'Company of Mushrooms' was being shot there. I believed there are few more movies that took place in there...

The 1st time when I went there about a year ago, it was about finding a location to do a screening of my short film. The tauke is such a nice guy and he agreed to let me use the empty space up stair for free, all we need is just order drinks and foods on that day. After that, we sit down and tried some of their food, unfortunately, it was quite a disappointment... I mean, it's not really that bad, but it's just too expensive for the taste...

This time, the foods are better... at least I think they have improved! We had lots of pizzas and talking on that day, great time!

Pulau Ketam with Seagull

I was kind of missed out introducing the Island from the last post, so I thought this time I should at least write a brief introduction about the island - Pulau Ketam.
"Pulau Ketam ( Crab Island ) is well-known as a fishing village, where most the people there work as fishermen. All buildings on the Island are built 3-5 feet from the swampland. During high tide, houses look like "floating on the water". And so, the “floating houses” and the unique lifestyle became the main attraction of visitors to this island. If you visit the island during day when it’s ebb tide, you will see a very beautiful scenery where the beach is full of crab, and that’s how I understood why they named it Crab Island . There are so many heritage buildings on the Island which become great a subjects to shoot..."

Special thanks to Kelvin who had borrowed me one of his Seagull camera during the trip. Given me the chance to experience a TLR camera for the first time and discovered it's unique beauty. I don't blame you Kelvin, for pushing me to burn another roll after I had done the first; instead I'm glad you did that! I enjoyed the result very much, thank you!

And if you ever wonder what is that 'Seagull TLR camera'...This is it.

Still no idea? Perhaps you should ask your dad or grandpa... :)

Pulau Ketam in B/W

Back to the mid-October during Hari Raya, not long after Hooi got his LCA+...

Me and Hooi were planning for a lomo outing, looking at a place which is good to photograph and the same time avoid from the busy traffic. I said "What about Pulau Ketam (Crabs Island), since I've never been there!", then Hooi responded "Great! Me neither!"... And since we are doing this 'lomo outing', we thought, why not invite also other lomographers see if they wanted to join us.

So... on the 13th October 2007,

21 lomo cameras
11 lomographers
1 lomo spirit

step onto the island.

The 10 lomographers plus me taking picture.

The jetty at Port Klang.

Waited on the boat for about 1 hour, but that didn't spoil our mood.

Reaching Pulau Ketam. Seemed like it was going to rain, but luckily...

The sun came right out after we reached, then it was bright and sunny!!

A nice guy guided us with the map.

Scenery of the fishing village.

The scenery.

Father and daughter.

The lomo spirit.

21 lomo cameras!

Astro satellite, one of the best invention.

Cycling is their main transport.

Bicycle and lomographer.

It was hot and tiring but everyone just kept on shooting. Who cares?

Wee Seng, resting under the shade.

The scenery.

While the tide gets higher in the late afternoon.

The "floating houses" during high tide.

An old barber shop, with a nice owner who allowed me take pictures of him and his shop...
This is one of my favorite shot. I think b/w has given this shot a bonus!

The friendly costumer.

The scenery during high tide.

A busy street on the island. Full of restaurants and convenient shops.

By the time we waited for the ferry to go back, I saw a few youngsters having fun jumping into the ocean. I had my camera ready and when he did it again, I immediately pressed the shutter button. This became my favorite shot of the day.

a rainy night in a horizon city

It was a rainy night when I walked down the street in KL city. The wet floor had given very nice reflection of the busy city lights, and it was bright enough for my horizon to expose at f5.6 which gave me a nice and wider depth.

I like how they turned out, with lots of details and colors.

Family Day

Mum had been suffering from the gall stone for the last couple months, and doctor advised to have the gall bladder removed as soon as possible. Therefore, my dad brought her to the SJMC last week to proceed with the operation. My sister had also visited from Singapore.

It was a great time having all 4 of us together as a family since it has been so long since we last gather along like this. You know, it's just so difficult to find a time where my sister and I travel back home at the same time...

We had a huge lunch in my mum's room on that day. I brought sis to the food court for some takes-away and she just couldn't stop buying. Oh, and she misses the Asam Laksa alot, she finished the soup until the last drop, that's incredible! Too bad my mum was unable to has food yet or else we sure would need a bigger table.

Sis left at the same evening because she has to fly the next day. Mum and dad stayed for another night.

The operation was very success. Mum has been recovering fast and is now released from the pain! :)

The Wild-Wide-Dream

A friend once asked me, "How did you know about Lomography?"
I said, "Because of Horizon."
And then he asked, "What made you so in love with Lomography?"
I said, "Horizon."

111 days after I first said hello to Lomo, the dream has came true...

I present you, my wild-wide-dream,

The Black Beauty.

Thank you Lomography for this precious gift!

WHY GREEN?

GREEN is the color of Lomo.

Sometimes, you will get a really sparkling GREEN like this.

Yet sometimes it is very deep GREEN.

Under tungsten light, it adds yellow to the GREEN.

Sometimes you can get nice blueish GREEN, depend on where you scan it.

GREEN flash is cool.

GREEN is also the color of Fuji Film.

Holga camera has a GREEN version.

GREEN is the color of my name.
蔡荻蔚,都是字头。

And recently, I just bought a GREEN camera bag.

Do I like GREEN?

Depend. This time, I just wanted to wear my blog a new appearance...
